Members of city commissions and committees are appointed by members of the city council. You may apply to be on any of these committees and committee meetings are open to the public. Generally proof of citizenship is not required. Huntington Beach
Allied Arts Board
The purpose of the Allied Arts Board is to encourage and promote cultural activities and events. The Allied Arts Board advises the City Council on matters pertaining to the growth of the arts and cultural affairs in Huntington Beach.
Meetings
First Tuesday of the month at 5:45 pm at the Huntington Beach Art Center. All meetings are open to the public.
Board of Appeals
Board of Appeals hears and decides appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the Building Official related to application and interpretation of the adopted technical codes. The Board meets as needed. Staffing is provided by the Building & Safety department, 536-5455.
Children's' Need Task Force
The Task Force is available to provide their recommendations to the City Council concerning appropriate methods to meet the needs of children in Huntington Beach.
Applications are currently being accepted for adult and youth (high school) persons wanted to serve on the Children's Needs Task Force
Citizen Participation Advisory Board
The mission of the Citizen Participation Advisory Board is to submit recommendations to City Council on allocations for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds. Along with staff, the Board shall assess the needs of the community, particularly that of low and moderate income households, evaluate and prioritize projects pertaining to the required plans and provide recommendations to City Council on such plans and projects.

Community Services Commission
The mission of the Community Services Commission is to make recommendations to City Council on matters relating to development, acquisition, and renovation of park, beach and recreational facilities.
Meetings
Second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. The Chair may call special meetings if issues arise requiring action prior to a regularly scheduled meeting,
Design Review Board
The Design Review Board reviews design, colors and materials for projects located within Specific Plan Areas, Redevelopment Areas and areas designated by City Council such as Beach Blvd.

The Board meets on the second Thursday of each month at 3:30 P.M. in B-8 located at the Lower Level of City Hall.
Environmental Board
Investigates threats to the HB environment, reports recommendations to the City Council and does other duties as necessary as assigned by the City Council.
The Board meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in Room B-7 at the lower level of City Hall.
Finance Board
The Board acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council on matters pertaining to financial planning.
Meetings
Finance Board meetings are regularly held every second Wednesday of the month. The Board meets at 6:00PM in Meeting Room B-8, located on the Lower Level of the Civic Center.

4th of July Board
Fourth of July Executive Board is responsible for the fundraising, coordination and presentation of the city's annual Fourth of July Celebration, including a parade, fireworks, 5K run and related entertainment.
Meetings
The board meets monthly on the 1st Wednesday at 6:00 P.M year-round, with two meetings in May and weekly or as-needed meetings in June.
Historic Resources Board
The purpose of the Historic Resources Board is to encourage and promote programs and activities that enhance public awareness of historic resources.
Meetings
The Board holds meetings as needed on Friday afternoons at 1:30 pm at the Huntington Beach Art Center. All meetings are open to the public.
Human Relations Task Force
The Huntington Beach Human Relations Task Force (HRTF) promotes and celebrates diversity in our community through education and understanding.
The HRTF meets monthly on the first Tuesday at 6:45 P.M. at the Huntington Beach City Hall, 2000 Main Street.

Investment Advisory Board
The mission of the Investment Advisory Board is to act in an advisory capacity to the City Council and City Treasurer in matters pertaining to all the City's investments.
Meetings
The IAB meets quarterly, generally the 4th Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Caucus Room of City Hall. Meeting months are January, April, July and October. In addition, the IAB has one annual joint study session meeting with City Council. This meeting is generally held in November
Library Board
The role of the board is to assist the City Council in the development and analysis of information regarding library related issues.

Mobile Home Advisory Board
This committee was created to investigate the various issues concerning mobile home park ownership and residency. The committee will make recommendations to City Council in an attempt to seek resolve to disputes in a fair and equitable manner to all parties involved.

Generally on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 PM in Room B-7, in the lower level of City Hall, or, on occasion, at a local mobile home park.
Personal Commission
Acting in an advisory capacity to the City Council and City Administrator over matters within the authority of the Commission and in response to requests for personnel administration advice from the City Council or City Administrator [and much more].

Planning Commission
The Planning Commission includes seven members who are appointed by the City Council members. Each City Council member appoints one commissioner to this quasi-judicial body that is empowered by State law and the City Council.
The Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Study sessions are frequently held at 5:30 p.m. prior to the meeting in Room B-8. Agendas are available to the public the Thursday prior to the meeting.
Public Works Commission
The mission of the Public Works Commission is to review and make recommendations related to Public Works capital improvement projects and programs.
Youth Board
Applicants must be enrolled in a Huntington Beach High School or be of high school age and live within Huntington Beach.
We are pledged to represent, delegate and encourage youth involvement in the community and to act at all times under the statutes outlined in Resolution No. 5032.
