Opposed Opponents of the ballot measure acknowledge the need for a new senior center, but prefer to maintain the proposed site area as open space. The senior center proposal is too vague and too costly, they say, at a time when the city has over $849 million in infrastructure repairs, including streets, parks, libraries, flood channels, beaches, sewers and fire stations that, if unmet, will cause diminished property values and a decline in tourist revenue. A more frugal alternative and other locations should be considered, they argue. Web site: www.savecentralpark.org |
